Design is thinking made visual
-Saul Bass
When I say we want to get to know our clients and build a relationship with them I don’t mean this in a cliche way. I truly love this industry, and helping people with their home purchases has been a passion of mine since I was a high schooler sitting in show homes for my grandma.
What I love is the ability to be creative, innovative, and tackle problems by coming up with great solutions. Two years ago I saw a huge need for a company within our city to be able to help clients in all aspects of “home purchasing” meaning you didn’t have to involve a REALTOR®, a builder, a designer, and clients all coming together from different companies. I truly wanted to SIMPLIFY the experience and have clients build a relationship with one company who had the clients back in all areas.
To see this vision come together made me so happy. I loved co-listing Audra and Dylan’s crazy cool modern 2 storey home. It had so many amazing features like concrete floors, high gloss cabinets, and an entertaining deck off the bonus room upstairs. Although these features were incredible it wasn’t the right space for their growing family. There was an old house that needed to be demolished just 2 doors down from their current home and they inquired through an associate of mine, Joel Hunter, about working with Trademark. Joel and I were able to work together to have Trademark purchase this property and build a brand new craftsman bungalow for the Dufours on the lot.
Throughout the process we wanted to create a home that complimented the Lakeview neighbourhood and blended with the historical homes on the block. We worked with John Robinson from Robinson Residential to come up with a stunning exterior and a layout that checked all the boxes. Their home was designed with timeless elegance, marring modern and traditional elements. I love the finished product!
With the narrow 37’ lot and the desire to have the main living space at the back of the house, we ended up with a long hallway stretching from the front door to the open concept living space in the back. I knew it would be important to add interest to this space so we designed recessed ceiling details evenly space down the entire hallway and dressed up the walls with wainscotting. I absolutely love this hallway and how it sets the tone for the whole house when the front doors open.
A huge thank you to the Dufours for trusting us each step of the way. From purchasing a lot on their behalf, listing and selling their existing home, and designing and building their new space, we loved the process. I laughed every time they said “we keep waiting for the stressful part to come and it never does” and I was reminded that this should always be a fun experience! Yes lots of decisions will be made, you have to envision a final product, and there are lots of moving parts… but we got you!
