THAT ACREAGE LIFE // MINI SERIES: EPISODE 3 - CORONAVATIONS
WOW! Honestly, it’s been a little nerve wracking opening our home up to a behind the scenes look. I feel pretty vulnerable opening our home to the opinions of the public but thank you all for your kind words. First off, I want to remind people that this journey didn’t happen over night and it has been 10 years to get this acreage to where it is at now and we aren’t even done - it’s a work in progress! But that’s what owning a home is all about and creating a space that is 100% you - doesn’t matter if that is a condo, a home in the city, or a farm or acreage - make it you!
Now, let’s dive into the “Coronavations” episode. As I mentioned we wanted to jazz up our second floor and add some texture to the walls. These updates are generally pretty affordable to do, they just take time. We wanted to add some shiplap and wainscotting to the walls because the long hallway was lacking some interest. And the older multi-coloured slate fireplace was simple to update and made the biggest change in the bonus room. Here is what you would need to complete the project:
MDF Trim boards - we used 1x4 boards for the wainscotting and 1x6 for the shiplap walls
Power tools - Compound mitre saw and a nail gun
Paint + Supplies - paint, rollers, painters tape, caulking, sanding sponge, drywall putty to patch and fill nail holes, drop cloths.
Paint Sprayer - we used this because we own one but you definitely don’t need to have this to complete the project. Using a foam roller would also work. A paint sprayer is not as easy as it sounds so don’t take on this option if you haven’t used one before.
If you are wondering what colours we used here you go!
Wall colour - Pashmina - Benjamin Moore
Trim Colour - Simply White - Benjamin Moore
