To see this vision come together made me so happy. I loved co-listing Audra and Dylan’s crazy cool modern 2 storey home. It had so many amazing features like concrete floors, high gloss cabinets, and an entertaining deck off the bonus room upstairs. Although these features were incredible it wasn’t the right space for their growing family. There was an old house that needed to be demolished just 2 doors down from their current home and they inquired through an associate of mine, Joel Hunter, about working with Trademark. Joel and I were able to work together to have Trademark purchase this property and build a brand new craftsman bungalow for the Dufours on the lot.

The first time we walked through the Keens’ Leopold house was before we had even wrote an offer. We had been on holidays and hadn’t joined for the first viewing of the home, but when Dionne called I could tell she was excited to show me the home that “could be the one”. Pulling up to the home we saw this big square box with an awkward solarium above the garage. Tons of potential but definitely missed the mark when it came to curb appeal.

Located on one of Regina’s most prestigious streets, we were surprised this home was still on the market. I guess it just needed someone to see past the awkward and bring a vision to the entire space.

Ready or not fall is here. Some love it, and some are secretly mourning the long summer days and warm sun. The wind sweeps in this feeling of change, and for me I get so excited to cozy up in our home and prepare for winter.

Here I am, still on my decluttering train and I have been loving how freeing and less stressful my life has been feeling. But, I have to say that this clutter free kick has been with me for a while so I thought I would share a bit of background on how I transformed my life from clutter chaos to neat and tidy.

When a fellow REALTOR® friend called and asked if we could meet her clients over at a home they had put an offer on, I, of course, said we would love to! We often work with REALTOR® associates to help clients budget a remodel prior to them either offering on a home or removing their final conditions. I knew it was a historical home in The Crescents neighbourhood and I had no idea how much I would fall in love with this project. During our walk through with the client, we found many hidden treasures that took us back to a time almost 100 years ago. This is when the original owners built the home. Crazy right?!

If these walls could talk, what would they say? Would they share about the blood, sweat, and tears that were poured into this home when it was first being built? Would they share that the home was once a show home back in 1992? Or that there wasn’t any neighbours around them when the foundation went in? Maybe they would share that they were part of a development that seemed so far east that many couldn’t imagine the city growing to the size we see today. One thing these walls would share is the many memories that were created in the space.

When your life is cluttered, your mind will be as well. I strongly believe there comes a sense of unsettledness that arrives when people live in clutter. The piles, the papers, the mess... it all adds up and takes a toll on our emotions and mental health. And trust me, I am NOT clutter free.

In January I made it my resolution (I LOVE resolutions) to attempt to de-clutter my life. Here are the 5 simple and hard questions I asked myself:

1. Do we use this daily?
2. Have we used/worn this in the past 6 months?
3. Is this a seasonal item that needs to be stored?
4. Does this have a place in our home?
5. Is there someone else who can benefit from this more than me?

There is something about living just outside the city that is calming and peaceful. Maybe it’s the room to explore, maybe it’s the fresh air, or maybe it’s the small town lifestyle where everyone is your “neighbour” and life is less complicated.

When our friends Brooke and Tyler asked us to come view an acreage they were thinking of putting an offer on we couldn’t wait to see what they had found! We entered the lane and instantly knew they found a gem in the heart of White City. The property was 10 acres, and walking distance from the new school, seconds from town and a private oasis for their busy family.

Walking into the 2000 sqft bungalow we instantly saw what they had quickly fallen in love with: high vaulted ceilings in the living room, ample main floor square footage, and dream landscaping. The only problem was the house was stuck in the early 2000s, closed off small spaces including a corner kitchen with a eating nook, formal dining room, and dark paint. Brooke and Tyler had a great plan and vision for the space and once they filled us in we were 100% on board. It isn’t every day you get to work on a beautiful acreage, with great bones, that is waiting for you to give it a little push in the right direction.

Over the past 2 years we have been focusing on servicing our clients in all aspects of the “home” industry. In the fall of 2018 we rebranded our company to be Trademark: Homes-Remodel-Realty and incorporated 3 pillars of services into of our every day business. Since 2007 we have been known as a new home builder in the city and surrounding area and have proudly completed almost 600 projects in the past 12 years. In 2017 we opened our remodel division to service clients who wanted the option of purchasing or staying in a home and creating a new space within an existing footprint.

Over the past few years we saw a large need to align our company with likeminded REALTORS® who could service our clients for their resale needs. If I had to pick one neighbourhood in Regina that is my favourite I would have to say…. Wascana View! Located on the east side of Regina this neighbourhood first started to take shape in 1986 and quickly became one of Regina’s most affluent and desirable neighbourhoods – and still is!

We currently have great remodels happening in Wascana View and love the stories each project tells. From a client purchasing their family home and moving back into the neighbourhood to empty nesters looking to breathe new life into their current home rather than moving, this neighbourhood is just getting started with revitalization! We mean it when we say, “Welcome to the new Wascana View!”

Possession days are always happy... and a little bit sad (for us). We love handing the keys over to our clients but we are also sad that our journey with that project is coming to an end. Each project has a special place in our hearts.

The Katepwa Lake House Project was a super fun and challenging project. For me, it stretched me to think in a different direction than I was use to. Our clients asked for a Malibu beach house feel and we all know that I am a little more farmhouse when it comes to design. But that is what I love about this industry - we get pushed to think in ways that we aren't always comfortable with and we learn a lot along the way.

It all started with a handwritten letter to a Bay of strangers. Asking them to remember Jared + Renee when they were ready to sell their homes. What started off as a dream for Jared + Renee came true and we were so honoured to be asked to join them on this adventure. After a lot of planning they handed us the keys on April 1, 2018. And 8 months later we handed the keys back to a home that underwent a full top to bottom remodel with 2 new additions and a new dream yard.

It's been awhile since our last episode. We catch up with the entire family just after drywall stage and it's really beginning to take shape and feel like a home.

It’s the drive. Decompressing from the busy day. The 10 minutes to relax, put the car on cruise and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. Its the sense of Freedom. Open fields to explore, paths to walk, wide open spaces that allow for an outdoor lifestyle. Its the peace of mind. Sending your kids outside to run, play and be adventurous. Allowing them the childhood you had… when the neighbourhood was your playground. It’s the heart beat of the town. The baseball diamonds in the summer where evenings are spent cheering on family and catching up with friends. Heading to the rink - early mornings and late nights with a coffee in hand.

It’s Saskatchewan living. Where your neighbours become family. The people become your community. And life feels less complicated.

Melissa & Tyson headed down to Local Market YQR by Local & Fresh in the Weston Bakeries Building, right in the heart of Regina's Warehouse District. With a market, shops, brewery, event spaces and more, this will be an amazing addition to what is already becoming one of the best neighbourhoods in Regina!
